Demo 2007
Here are some excerpts from our demo. All of these (but one song) were recorded in a home-made studio and practically without any professional equipment. We even had to keep the sequenced version of our drums tracks, as we lack of conditions to record decent drums at home. Nevertheless, we still believe these are good songs:
  • Caballo de fuego (fragment). (Fire Horse) This theme we believe it exposes the musical essence of our band..
  • Continúa la batalla (fragment). (And the battle goes on) Inspired by a subject that is both current and controversial.
  • Levitando (fragment). (Levitating) Every big city has a famous madman. Havana had one, "El Caballero de Paris" (the gentleman from Paris) and this song is dedicated to him.
  • Anima sola (fragment). (Lonely Soul) This recording is taken from a live gig at Radio Progreso, a national radiostation, in Havana, Cuba, 2000. It's a popular song among our fans here.
  • Piedra Rodante (fragment). (Rolling Stone) Recorded as a test in 2005, when the idea of the demo started to take shape.

The band was exploring at that time some Afro-Cuban rhythms and other ethnic elements in a quest for a more progressive sound. The results were not all satisfactory, but we still wanted to share with you some material from this period. Nelson sings almost all the themes in Yoruba -- a native African language, spoken by Cuban slaves brought to the island centuries ago. These themes belong to the Santeria liturgy -- one of the afro-Cuban religions still practiced in Cuba. The whole idea looks original and we hope to include one of these themes in a future album:

The beginning and other songs (1996-1999)
These are old recordings taken from jam sessions and rehearsals that somehow made it to present day. Our very first jams were made with old Russian gear. The sound was awful, so apologies in advance for the poor sound quality:
  • Samán (fragment 1): Demo of an unfinished song. We hope you get the idea of where we were heading to with this one.
  • Samán (fragment 2): Another excerpt from this song.
  • Sodoma (fragment): A biblical theme. This is another hit among our fans.
  • Agnus Dei (fragment): (Lamb of God) Nelson doesn't speak Latin fluently (he, he), but we find that this song has a certain charm anyway. We might retake some ideas from this theme in the near future.
